NDIS Pricing Changes from 1 July 2026: What Participants and Families Need to Know

If you have heard that NDIS support prices are changing from 1 July 2026, you are probably wondering what that means for your plan, your supports, and your budget. We want to give you a straight answer.

The short version: the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) has released its 2026-27 Annual Pricing Review, and updated price limits are now in effect. For most participants, the day-to-day supports you receive are not changing. If your Service Agreement with Noahs Haven needs updating, we will contact you directly.

Here is everything you need to know.

For Peace of Mind: Because your plan budget is automatically indexed (increased) by the NDIA mid-July 2026 to match these higher rates, the actual number of support hours you receive will remain steady. Your current care setup is secure.

What is the NDIS Annual Pricing Review?

Every year, the NDIA reviews the NDIS Pricing Schedule to set the maximum rates registered providers can charge. The review considers factors like Fair Work wage decisions, superannuation guarantee increases, and what it actually costs to deliver high-quality disability supports across Australia.

The 2026-27 NDIS Pricing Schedule takes effect on 1 July 2026. Participant plans will be indexed shortly after to account for the new rates.

Understanding NDIS Rates: Two Sides of the Same Number

When looking at NDIS pricing, it helps to understand that these numbers represent two different things:

  • The Price Limit: What the NDIS allows a provider to charge a participant to cover wages, insurance, superannuation (which reached 12% on 1 July 2026), and mandatory training.

  • The Award Wage: What a support worker is legally paid by their employer under the SCHADS Award (Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services).

When the Fair Work Commission increases award wages, NDIS price caps must follow so that providers can pay their teams fairly and stay open. The NDIA's price limits are a ceiling to ensure sector sustainability, not pure profit margins.

What are the new NDIS rates from 1 July 2026?

1. Core Supports - Assistance with Daily Life

These rates apply to everyday supports like personal care, domestic assistance, and community access for standard support workers.

Support Type National Rate Remote Loading Very Remote Loading
Weekday Daytime (6am – 8pm) $73.58 / hr $103.01 / hr $110.37 / hr
Weekday Evening (8pm – Midnight) $81.07 / hr $113.50 / hr $121.61 / hr
Weekday Night (Midnight – 6am) $82.57 / hr $115.60 / hr $123.86 / hr
Saturday (All day) $103.54 / hr $144.96 / hr $155.31 / hr
Sunday (All day) $133.50 / hr $186.90 / hr $200.25 / hr
Public Holiday (All day) $163.46 / hr $228.84 / hr $245.19 / hr
Night-Time Sleepover (Per shift) $311.79 / shift $436.51 / shift $467.69 / shift

Rates are set in line with the NDIS Price Guide and are subject to change. Remote and Very Remote loadings apply based on participant location as classified by the NDIS.
Note: Higher intensity support (for participants with complex needs) is billed at a slightly higher rate to reflect the additional skills and training required.

2. Behaviour Support (PBS) - Capacity Building

From 1 July 2026, all Specialist Behavioural Intervention Support items are charged at a unified national rate. This applies to direct service, non-face-to-face work, telehealth, cancellations, and NDIA-requested reports.

Service Type National Rate Remote Loading Very Remote Loading
All Behaviour Support Items $252.99 / hr $354.19 / hr $379.49 / hr
Provider Travel $126.50 / hr $177.10 / hr $189.75 / hr

Rates are set in line with the NDIS Price Guide and are subject to change. Remote and Very Remote loadings apply based on participant location as classified by the NDIS.

3. Support Coordination

Unlike core support workers, support coordinators charge a flat rate that stays the same regardless of what day or time the work occurs.

Support Level National Rate Remote Loading Very Remote Loading
Level 1: Support Connection $80.06 / hr $112.08 / hr $120.09 / hr
Level 2: Coordination of Supports $100.14 / hr $140.19 / hr $150.21 / hr
Level 3: Specialist Support Coordination $190.54 / hr $266.75 / hr $285.80 / hr

Rates are set in line with the NDIS Price Guide and are subject to change. Remote and Very Remote loadings apply based on participant location as classified by the NDIS.

Why Timing Your Supports Matters More Than You Think

Because support workers receive penalty rates on weekends, a Sunday support shift charges your plan significantly more than a weekday shift. If you are managing a tight budget, visualising the real-world value of your hours is essential.

For example, a 4-hour support shift impacts your funding differently depending on the day:

  • Weekday Daytime: Costs $294.32 total

  • Saturday: Costs $414.16 total

  • Sunday: Costs $534.00 total

A single 4-hour Sunday shift utilises the same amount of plan funding as roughly 7.2 hours of weekday daytime support. To protect your plan budget, consider reserving weekend bookings for essential community access, social events, or absolute care requirements, while keeping routine domestic tasks or administrative supports within standard weekday hours.

Will my NDIS plan funding change?

If your plan is currently active, your funding will be indexed mid July to account for the new prices. This means the NDIA adjusts your plan budget automatically so that the supports you receive can continue to be funded at the updated rates.

Here is how the transition process works between you and your providers:

  1. 1

    Automatic NDIA Indexation

    Happens 13 July 2026

The NDIA automatically increases your total remaining plan budget balance to absorb the price increases. You do not need to contact them to request this.

  2. 2

    Provider Review & Consultation

    Before any billing changes

If you have a Service Agreement with a provider like Noahs Haven, they must contact you to discuss how the updated pricing affects your schedule of supports.

  3. 3

    Mutual Consent & Signature

    Required for activation

Providers cannot change your service agreement or increase your rates without your clear agreement. Review the adjustments together, confirm your hours are protected, and if requested, you may need to sign the updated schedule.

How does location affect my support pricing?

The NDIS uses the Modified Monash Model (MMM) to classify locations across Australia.

  • National: Standard rates apply to metropolitan and most regional areas.

  • Remote: A loading applies, typically around 40% above national rates.

  • Very Remote: A higher loading applies, around 50% above national rates.

Bendigo and the surrounding regional Victorian areas where Noahs Haven operates are priced at National rates. If you receive services outside of these areas, your support coordinator can confirm your exact classification.

We are here if you have questions

Do I need to do anything right now?

For most participants, no. Plan indexing happens automatically in the background on 13 July. If your Service Agreement with us needs an administrative update to reflect the new tables, our team will reach out to you directly to arrange a chat.

Can my provider charge more than the NDIS price limit?

If your plan is agency-managed or plan-managed, no. Providers are legally locked into charging within the published price limits. If you are self-managed, you have the structural flexibility to negotiate custom rates with your providers.

What if I think I am being overcharged?

Always cross-examine the line item codes on your monthly invoice against the official 2026-27 Pricing Schedule via the NDIS portal. If a discrepancy appears, contact your plan manager immediately or reach out to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

Noahs Haven was built by a parent who could not find the right support for her son and decided to create it herself. That is still who we are. We will always be upfront with you about changes in the scheme, and we will always make time to answer your questions.
